The main garden with patio, lawns, shrubs

A very warm welcome awaits you when you stay at Summerhill Bed and Breakfast in Hawkhurst, Kent, where your hosts, Chris and Jacqueline, will make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Visitors, tourists, sightseers, walkers, cyclists, fishermen will all find comfort here!

Hawkhurst is centrally positioned to be your base for exploring the Weald of Kent, justifiably known as the ‘Garden of England’. There are gardens and castles galore, from Sissinghurst and Great Dixter, Merriments and Pashley Manor, to Batemans, Scotney and Bodiam Castles and the list goes on! Nearby are the lovely villages of Cranbrook, Benenden, Wadhurst, Goudhurst, Staplehurst and Sandhurst as well as small towns such as Tenterden, Rye, Hastings and Tunbridge Wells. Nor are we far from Dover or the Eurotunnel.

In our garden

In Hawkhurst Village

Between the Georgian Colonnade and the ancient Moor, you will find pubs aplenty (six at the last count) and a wide variety of restaurants, shops and services in our lively village where our bed and breakfast nestles. In the heart of Hawkhurst, SUMMERHILL bed and breakfast, with its own beautiful gardens has much to offer our guests.

Your facilities at our Bed and Breakfast in Hawkhurst

Sit on the patio, surrounded by sweet smelling roses and lavender, colourful, abundant flowers and shrubs, and relax with your welcoming pot of tea and home-made cake. Stretch out under the shade of the unusual Medlar tree, reflect or read or plan your next day’s visits! If the weather is less kind, our garden room, opening onto the patio and garden beyond is for guests’ use.

You have a choice between two tastefully decorated, bright and light rooms. Pashley is our double ensuite and Merriments is our twin with private bathroom (a couple of steps down the corridor and for your exclusive use). Each one has digital (with freeview) T.V. and radio; tea and coffee making facilities with complimentary refreshments; hair dryer and complimentary toiletries. Browse through the information folder provided in the rooms for hints and tips to enhance your stay in the area.

The garden room

On arrival relax with a welcomming tea or coffee and home made cakes in the garden room or on the patio - weather permitting. Overlooking the garden and opening out onto the patio, the garden room is there for guests' full use. Borrow a book, read a magazine, watch a DVD, listen to music or just relax in this bright and comfortable room. Walkers, cyclists and anglers are all most welcome. To enhance your stay, and for your particular needs, we are pleased to have at your service, maps, boot scraper and boot rack, somewhere to dry wet clothing and can store bicycles safely. Anglers, there is an excellent shop in the village for your needs and your gear can be stored in the entrance lobby which is kept locked. We are happy to provide packed breakfasts and lunches with prior notice. We will always top up your flask with hot water! Our primary concern is your comfort and enjoyment.

Bobo, our friendly English Spaniel

Breakfasts are served either in the panelled dining room or on the patio. Try our delicious, traditional English breakfasts, using local produce (including the much liked bread from the bakers in the village) or why not continental one day and there are also healthy and vegetarian options. The menu features specials which are available by prior arrangement, the evening before (see menus).

Whilst you will be heartily welcomed by our gentle English Springer Spaniel, we regret we cannot accept your pets.
